What is Swanage and Purbeck Rotary?

Swanage & Purbeck Rotary is a group of more than 40 men and women from all walks of life who share a common aim to help others whilst enjoying each others company.  The group gets together on a regular basis in Swanage and the surrounding area.

Our programme of events primarily involves managing and participating in the numerous projects organised by the Swanage & Purbeck Rotary Charitable Incorporated Organisation (“CIO”), whose aim is to help and support those less fortunate than ourselves. It holds a number of regular fund-raising events (including the annual fete in August) and responds to emergencies both at home and abroad when they occur. All moneys collected for charitable purposes are donated to good causes without deduction.

The CIO is supported by our Friends and our Business Partners (without whom it could not achieve all of its aims).

Our other activities include visits to places of interest and up to three meetings a month where we might invite a speaker to come and present to us on a matter of interest or where we’ll discuss upcoming projects and activities.

There are also opportunities to participate in various sporting activities with other Rotary groups who, like us, are part of a global organisation of 1.2 million like-minded individuals in around 35,000 clubs. Those who wish to become more involved with the running of the organisation at a higher level within Rotary find plenty of scope to contribute further.

We are always pleased to welcome new members to the group. If you would like more information about joining us please contact us or to view our programme of activities please click here.

Rotary International is well-respected and having a presence globally is able to respond more quickly to emergencies when they arise. Rotary works with others too – most notably the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the elimination of polio.
