Youth
Working in close partnership with all of our local schools, enabling pupils to develop their talents through projects such as Young Musician and Young Technologist, all of which culminate with annual District Finals from which the winners can progress to the National Finals.
In conjunction with The Swanage School we run the Young Citizen Award (Clem Dennis award), for which teachers and pupils can put forward nominations which are considered by a panel and the Trophy awarded annually - at the end of the Summer term - to the winner.
We also run the annual Rotary Kids Out day, with the choice of visiting Adventure Wonderland or Marwell Zoo.
And we support the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Rotary Young Leadership Award (RYLA) and the Rhona Trust.

Community
Working in conjunction with several local charities and projects and ensures that our local fundraising is supportive of those most in need.
We have been working in close partnership with the Purbeck Defibrillator project which is now close to its goal of ensuring access to defibrillators across Purbeck. We continue to support the Friendly Food Club with cash donations and the purchase of fresh foods such as milk and bread.
We also co-ordinate some of our annual events such as the very popular Silver Saturday afternoon tea in February and the Summer Community Fête in August.

International and Foundation
Focusing on one main overseas aid project each year, it having been chosen after close scrutinisation of several proposed projects. We arrange several fundraising projects throughout the year e.g. Knitson Open Gardens. As well as the chosen overseas project we organise our local response - usually a street collection - for any international disaster appeals such as the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, being secure in the knowledge that through the worldwide network of Rotarians the monies raised will reach the population in need.
Rotary Foundation leads on several ongoing international projects, sometimes in partnership with other International organisations e.g. the Eradication of Polio campaign in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Its other projects include Shelterbox, WaterAid, Mercy Ships and Sightsavers.

Supporting the Environment
With more emphasis on the environment that we live in and specifically climate change, in more recent times, Rotary International has added supporting the environment as a new area of focus. This gives us even more ways to bring about positive change and increase our impact.
Here in Swanage & Purbeck we are looking at ways that we can help to protect our own local environment. We are increasing our education in this area through talks from groups such as ‘Litter Free Purbeck’, ‘Sustainable Swanage’ and the Dorset Council Recycling team and looking at how we might be able to work with local organisations and schools to support initiatives such as plastic-free, ‘slam dunk the junk’ etc.
