Christmas Market Brings Out the Crowds

Last Saturday (9th December) saw the annual Christmas Market take over Station Road in Swanage.

Over 50 stalls selling everything from festive clothing to mince pies set up early in the morning to entice members of the public to part with their hard earned cash.

The weather was almost perfect – cold but clear and sunny with virtually no wind – meaning large crowds soon began to fill the market right from opening time at 10am.

In addition to the stalls, there were rides for the children, Santa’s grotto, the famous Swanage Rotary Santa’s Sleigh and a stage at which a variety of choirs and singers performed during the day.

A number of outlets selling burgers, bacon rolls, sausages and other hot food ensured that those intent on having a full day’s retail therapy would not go hungry.

Stallholders reported brisk business and a good trading day and significant funds will have been raised for Rotary’s local charities from the proceeds of the event.
