DetailsA group of more than 40 men and women from all walks of life who share a common aim to help others while enjoying each others' company. The group gets together on a regular basis in Swanage and the surrounding area.
Our programme of events primarily involves managing and participating in the numerous projects organised by the Swanage & Purbeck Rotary Charitable Incorporated Organisation ("CIO"), whose aim is to help and support those less fortunate than ourselves. The CIO holds a number of fund-raising events (including the annual Summer Fête in August and the festive activities in December) and responds to emergencies both at home and abroad when they occur. All proceeds of its charitable activities are donated to good causes without deduction.
The CIO is supported by our Friends of Rotary and our Business Partners (without whom it could not achieve all of its aims).
In addition, our Club President personally selects a good cause for the CIO to support during his or her year in office, and this year's Presidential charity is 'MYTIME', a local charity fighting to level the playing field for young carers. All donations to the Wishing Well on Swanage seafront will be donated to this organisation.
Other activities that our group gets involved in include visits to places of interest and up to three meetings a month where we might invite a speaker to come and present to us on a matter of interest or where we'll discuss upcoming projects and activities.
There are also opportunities to participate in various sporting competitions with other Rotary groups who, like us, are part of a global organisation of more than 1.4 million like-minded individuals in around 35,000 groups. And there is plenty of scope for those who wish to become more involved with the running of the organisation at Group, District, National or International level to contribute further.
We are always pleased to welcome new members to the group. If you would like more information, or are interested in joining us, please use the 'Contact' or 'Join Us' forms on this site. To view our programme of activities, please go to our 'Future Meetings and Events' and 'Calendar' pages.
Rotary International is well respected around the world and having a presence globally is able to respond more quickly to emergencies when they arise. Rotary works with others too, most notably the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the shared aim to eradicate polio.
