What is Swanage and Purbeck Rotary?
Our Rotary Club comprises currently around 30 men and women who share a common aim to help others whilst enjoying each others company
We hold a number of regular fund-raising events (including our annual fete in August) and respond to emergencies both at home and abroad when they occur. All moneys collected for charitable purposes are donated to good causes without deduction – a summary of amounts donated for the year 2016/17 is shown on our ‘Fundraising during 2017’ page.
We are supported by our Friends and our Business Partners (without whom we could not achieve all our aims).
Whilst our primary aim is to help others there is a social side to the club too. We meet on a regular basis in Swanage. We may conduct business or invite a Speaker to present on a matter of interest. There are opportunities to participate in variously us sporting activities with other Rotary clubs who, like us, are part of a global organisation of 1.2 million like-minded individuals in around 35,000 clubs. Our programme of events also includes visits to places of interest and an annual weekend away. Those who wish to become more involved with the running of the club and/or at a higher level within Rotary find plenty of scope to contribute further
Rotary is well-respected and having a presence globally is able to respond more quickly to emergencies when they arise. Rotary works with others too – most notably the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the elimination of polio
We are always pleased to welcome new members. If you would like more information about being a member of Rotary please contact us.
